    This 90 minute class with Polestar Educators-in-Training Liliana and Zoe is an opportunity to explore the Polestar repertoire on the ladder barrel and spine corrector. This class is suitable for both students and graduates of all schools. If you have an exercise that you would like to discuss and "dissect" in more detail - this is the place to do so!. Participants are invited to write in beforehand with any specific exercises they would like to cover. A previous graduate who came for our last repertoire review on the trap table described it afterwards by saying "that was amazing - like gold dust"!     Working with Antenatal Clients in the Pilates Environment £125
    With Polestar Educator Bethia Hope-Rollins. This 3½ hour  Matwork-based workshop is designed to empower you to work safely, effectively, confidently and creatively with pregnant clients. After an introduction to pregnancy related contraindications, Bethia will guide you through the main precautions and considerations teachers need to take when guiding pregnant women through their classes or sessions.  You will explore trimester-specific indicated exercises and choices, and be given the tools to work mindfully with both ‘Pelvic Girdle Pain’ and Diastasis Recti. The workshop includes a mix of tutor-led information sharing and guided participant brainstorming to create a pool of Pilates movements that are beneficial and appropriate during pregnancy. You will be introduced to some example prenatal class programs and have the opportunity to discover movements that empower and support active labour and birth choices. This workshop is open to all Pilates instructors who wish to work with antenatal clients within their current scope of practice. Advertising specifically prenatal classes usually requires certification which is beyond the scope of this workshop.

    With Polestar Educator Bethia Hope-Rollins This 3½ hour matwork-based workshop is designed to enable you to understanding what it really means to be a postnatal woman. With an insight to the journey their body has travelled pre return to class, you will better understand their postpartum needs and be able to create classes that are appropriate, supportive, progressive and uplifting. You will learn how to perform a Rectus Abdominus Check and then get an overview of the approach Bethia takes to restore postural alignment and core stability with an appreciation of developmental kinesiology.  This workshop includes a mix of information sharing and experiential labs where participants will discuss, share & practice Pilates movements that would be appropriate for a postnatal client. You will work with a case study and consider common Postnatal conditions such as Diastasis Recti & Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP). This workshop is open to all Pilates instructors who wish to work with Postnatal women within their current scope of practice.     First Aid (for Pilates Teachers) Training Day £125
    FIRST AID TRAINING, designed by Colin Fordham specifically for Pilates teachers, to help you manage emergency situations, injuries that may be related to Pilates or sports, plus the ability to provide first aid response to a casualty.
    AIMS 1. To define the meaning of first-aid and to identify the responsibilities and duties of a first-aider. 2. To introduce statutory HSE requirements: resuscitation, recovery position and control of bleeding. 3. Develop injury and incident management skills. 4. Examine the contents of first-aid kits and recording of incidents. 5. Develop awareness of possible Pilates and sport related injuries with reference to classical texts and contra-indications.
    OBJECTIVES By the end of the day students should be able to:-1. Know their duties and responsibilities as a first-aider. 2. Be able to deal with an unconscious casualty, resuscitate, put into recovery position and control bleeding. 3. Prioritise between a variety of injuries and to manage an incident safely. 4. To know what items may and may not be included in a first aid kit and how to record an incident. 5. Be able to recognise and manage a number of injuries that may be related to Pilates and sport and to be able to refer these injuries to classical texts and contra-indications.
    N.B. This course includes certification which lasts for 3 years.

    Chronic Illness – the Impact on Movement and Health with Jeannie Di Bon
    This one-day course will introduce you to the scope of practice and tools needed to work effectively and sensitively with clients with a chronic illness such as hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). 
    The morning will provide participants with the latest research about hypermobility and related conditions and will evaluate the role of Movement Therapy in both the prevention of problems and in the management of the condition.
    We will introduce the concept and understanding around the most appropriate movement strategy for the client. 
    Participants will gain an awareness of the knowledge and approach needed to work with this particular condition. 
    The course will introduce and examine two areas that are often common to those with hypermobility and EDS.
     
    Gait issues 
    Participants will Learn:
    • How to body read clients from the ground up.
    • Discover how foot position impacts movement or pain in the rest of the body.
    • Explore the designing of a movement therapy programme to ‘work’ the connective tissue of the feet.
    • Practise exercises that will load and train the connective tissue of the feet to rebuild the arches leading to healthy gait patterns and reduced pain.
    Chronic Pain Vs Chronic Illness 
    Participants will:
    • Begin to understand the relationship between chronic illness and pain.
    • Clarify the necessary scope of practice needed to work with clients in chronic pain or with a chronic illness.
    • Explore the designing of a safe and effective movement programme for a chronic pain client.
    The course will include a case study whereby participants can reflect on the content and create an appropriate movement therapy programme and lifestyle guidance for clients presenting with hypermobility and EDS.
